Ongoing Classes

While our beginner classes offer a great opportunity for those who need to review or be introduced to wheelthrowing basics, our ongoing classes are for those who feel at least mostly comfortable on the wheel but still want to have the benefits of a teacher's support.

Why Join A Class?

  • Three Hour Class, Once Per Week. See schedule below.

  • Be Part of a Community of Potters. It is a great feeling to come to the studio each week and get to know, be inspired by, and work alongside the same group of people.

  • Open to Students With a Range of Experience and Abilities - from folks who have recently finished our 5-week beginner series and are just getting the hang of throwing to potters with several years of experience who would like to be challenged with some new projects/ideas, have a teacher around to ask questions, and feel inspired by being in a group with other potters.

  • Open Studio Style with an instructor there to answer questions, demonstrate a new technique, and present an (optional) project for the group to try. The classes will be centered around what the students are interested in learning - so if a student asks the teacher about a specific skill/form (such as how to make a lidded vessel, e.g.), the teacher will teach that and invite other students who are interested to join. Students will always have the option to participate and inquire about lessons or may choose to focus on whatever they are working on on their own.

Pricing

  • Membership (No Class): $244 Per Month.  Includes studio access throughout the week, clay, glazes, firing, and the opportunity to sell in the BHC pottery store.

  • Membership & Class: $299 per Month. Includes everything in a membership plus a weekly three hour class with a teacher.  New members must commit to a minimum of 3 months.

  • For New Potters - Students who have just finished our beginner series and aren’t ready to commit to the 3 month membership minimum may join an ongoing class for a one month trial period for $335.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will there still be space available for members to use the studio during classes?
    • Yes, we will have at least four wheels available for members to reserve in the large throwing room. Additionally, the outdoor wheels will be available and members may reserve the wheels in the small room as long as there is not also a beginner class using that space.
  • Will the classes be for wheel throwing/handbuilding/both?
    • As the classes are mainly open studio style, you may work on whatever projects you would like to. Teachers will migrate around the studio and check in with and support all of the students. Teachers will provide a variety of different kinds of projects depending on the interests of the students.
  • Will my teacher be tied up working with brand new potters?
    • No. We are continuing our beginner classes and will be keeping completely new potters separate from our ongoing classes so that everyone gets a more curated experience. Folks who are completely new to clay can only join an ongoing class after completing our 5-week beginner series.
