Our 5 week classes are engineered to give you a solid base of pottery skills to build on. Check out what classes are available below!
Handbuilding Classes
Learn to slab build in our dedicated handbuilding room. We offer a small class size to set you up for success. Our projects have been thoughtfully chosen to provide students with new techniques each week. Learning to use a slab roller, applying slip, and adding texture are just a few. By the end of this 5 week series you will acquire a solid set of handbuilding and glazing skills to start you on your creative pottery journey. 5 Week Handbuilding Series Non-Member: $390 BHC Member: $120 (members must email teamBHC@blossomhillcrafts.com to reserve a space - do not register online)
We offer the lowest student to teacher ratio (5:1) in Silicon Valley. Full classes receive two teachers the first class. This allows our teachers to spend quality time with each student. Open Studio privileges are extended to Beginner Students between week 1 and week 4 to practice with our recycled clay. Our series will teach you to throw, trim, and glaze your pots. You will finish our series ready to continue into our available Intermediate Weekly class.
5 Week Wheel Series Non-Member: $390 BHC Member: $120 (members must email teamBHC@blossomhillcrafts.com to reserve a space - do not register online)
Typical 5 Week Wheel Class Week 1: Wheel Throwing: The first week you will become acquainted with the studio, its processes, and learn to throw your first pots. Week 2: Trimming: On the second week you will learn to trim pots thrown week 1 to achieve a good foot rim and even walls. More throwing if time permits. Week 3: Throwing and Shaping: Shaping will be introduced once you are able to pull a cylinder with ease. Mastering cylinders is our ultimate goal for you because they are the starting point for most pots thrown on the wheel. Week 4: Trim All Pots: Open Studio will end with this class. You will trim your final pots and we fast track them to be bisque fired so they are ready for your glazing class. Week 5: Glaze: You will gather all your pots thrown over the previous 4 weeks and learn to apply glaze. 7-10 day later you will pick up your finished pottery.
